The LA trio talk success, new music and an epic year ahead.

What do you get when you put Lissy Trullie and Mason James of Cerebral Ballzy into a room? Apparently, the latest thing to hit to sweeten indie music lovers' ears. And with the addition of Damar Davis on the drums, Zipper Club was born.

With the success of their single, "Going the Distance," the band has been making their mark with the critics while garnering fans wherever they go. And now that they're set to play Coachella in the spring, it looks like that 2017 is shaping up to be a good one.

We chatted with Zipper Club about the success of their single as well as what's to come this year.

Before getting together as Zipper Club, you had your own bands/musical projects. How did that help or challenge building the sound and band dynamic of Zipper Club?

Mason James: Lissy and I both individually brought our previous project’s sounds in trying to write for this project but also came into it trying to write something different and new. I personally was looking for a kind of different sound to explore new instruments and sounds to help create a cool sonic!! That was reflective of my time spend on the road with my previous project.

What's the story behind the band name?

James: The band name is a secret. Join the club to find out more.

"Going the Distance" has done very well for you guys. How did you feel about all the positive reviews on the song?

James: It was our debut song, and it was a great introduction to our sound. It is a debut song though, look for bigger, better, louder on the new stuff to come.
